BECOMING ART
There is an imperceptible and absolute moment when the ordinary transforms into the extraordinary. This collaboration was conceived to capture precisely that moment. Through a selection of works by artist Nando Stevoli, this exhibition explores the concept of metamorphosis: the fascinating journey of an instinctive gesture becoming expression, of a blank canvas becoming a work of art, of a material that absorbs and conveys a profound experience.
The elevation of the material defines a profound parallel between the art of Nando Stevoli and the philosophy of Ceramica Sant’Agostino. At the heart of this encounter lies the ability to infuse a tangible soul into creation: while the collections are born from the precision and efficiency of technology, they embody the aesthetics and meticulous attention to detail of exceptional craftsmanship.
The exhibition project presents a selection of black-and-white works that explore the material through an unconventional use of canvas, worked to create three-dimensional textures and vibrant surfaces with an almost textile quality. In dialogue with the ceramic finishes, the exhibition thus explores the theme of transformation—from gesture to form—prompting a reflection on the relationship between mark, material, and space, moving from canvas to artwork.
Another focal point is light, which plays with the reflections and chiaroscuro generated by the surface movement of the works, enhancing their three-dimensionality and material depth. More than just an exhibit, it is an integral part of the artistic language, revealing details and sparking a dynamic dialogue between surface and space.
The Ferrara region—another link between Nando Stevoli and Ceramica Sant’Agostino—is a quiet, flat countryside, characterized by diffused light and simple geometries. It is a setting that unites the artist and the company in a shared sensibility toward materials and their transformation, bridging tradition and innovation.
NANDO STEVOLI
Born in Ferrara, a seeker of essences by vocation. Nando Stevoli channels his exploration of transformation into the BECOMING ART project. His works are not mere surfaces, but layers of memory, gesture, and movement.
Nando Stevoli shares Ceramica Sant'Agostino’s philosophy in believing that beauty is not a destination, but a process of “becoming.” An artist who listens to the material and interprets it in the language of emotion. Craftsmanship and innovation: both are closely linked to the charm and spirit of the Este region.
